Snow blankets the fells, forests, and rivers \u2014 hinting at what\u2019s coming. Lakes freeze, trees sparkle in the frost, and Christmas lights begin to glow in the village as the darkest time of the year takes hold with the arrival of polar night. The polar night changes the perception of light and time, as daylight lingers briefly low on the horizon, painting the sky in pastel tones before twilight once again settles over the landscape. Even though the network may not yet be complete, the first opened tracks already bring joy to those who have waited. December usually brings plenty of new snow, and with it many new routes can be opened in Muonio.
