Hunter of the North
We offer authentic outdoors experiences in the Arctic environment for small groups all year round. We also produce game and reindeer meat products as well as reindeer horns and skins.
Winter:
Reindeer Avenue
Experience a day with a local reindeer host and learn the basics of reindeer husbandry. Near the travel destinations of Olos and Pallas, yet in the middle of the wilderness, you will find reindeer pastures with hundreds of reindeer and their herders. The local reindeer herder introduces the modern reindeer husbandry and reindeer feeding, and tells about the year of reindeer husbandry. You will ride a sled behind a snowmobile and watch a flock of hundreds of reindeer right next to you in their natural habitat. During the tour it is possible to take pictures. After the tour we enjoy the campfire coffee and you can ask questions and learn a little more about reindeer herding.
Arctic Winter Fishing
Experience a winter fishing day with a local fisherman and learn the basics of winter fishing. There are a lot of lakes in Muonio, and in the spring winter the best way to catch fish is with fish-traps and nets. The starting point of the trip can be arranged so that it is easy to get there with your own car or, if necessary, we will arrange transportation from the surrounding area. We go fishing on a snowmobile and a sled. First, we look through the fish-traps and learn about preparing burbot as food. Then we check the winter nets and hope to catch either whitefish, pike or both. In addition to fishing, lunch soup is enjoyed.
Summer:
Midnight Sun Fishing
Experience a summer fishing day with a local fisherman and learn the basics of lake and river fishing. There are lot of lakes in Muonio, and in the summer there is plenty of ways to fish. The starting point of the trip can be arranged so that it is easy to get there with your own car or, if necessary, we will arrange transportation from the surrounding area. We go fishing on a boat, from the shore or riverbanks. Traditional forms of fishing can be fly, snare or angling depending on the weather and location. In addition to fishing, soup dinner and coffee is enjoyed.
Taste of Lapland
Experience the Taste of Lapland in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and learn about berries and mushrooms. Lapland’s summer and autumn enable a long berry and mushroom picking season. On this excursion, we look for natural products from the forests of Finland’s most popular National Park and use them to season our lunch. The starting point of the trip can be arranged so that it is easy to get there with your own car or, if necessary, we will arrange transportation from the surrounding area. We will hike in the National Park for a few kilometres. At the end of the trip, lunch and coffee will be enjoyed.
